I just graduated from nursing school. Why should I consider working in long-term care vs. a hospital setting?
When it comes to patient care, nurses in long-term care have greater latitude with decision-making. You're always involved in assessments and evaluations of care plans and strategies. And because you'd routinely oversee the work of others as a long-term care nurse, you’d have daily opportunities to build and hone your leadership and management skills.

What makes working at The MacIntosh Company different from others?

With MacIntosh, the quality of care we provide to each resident is our highest priority. We believe that one of the best ways to ensure our residents are treated with respect and dignity is to treat one another that way, too.

Are you a big company?

Not really. We're locally owned and operated with care centers in Franklin and Pickaway counties. Our smaller size helps us remain responsive to changing needs and allows us to share resources, when it makes sense, to facilitate care. Having several operations also provides our associates with opportunities for growth via transfer and gives them exposure to different types of care and different facilities.

Why do I need to be fingerprinted?

Ohio law requires criminal background checks on anyone who works in industries involved in caring for children or the elderly. We fingerprint via electronic scanner and assess the results when they come in, usually within a few days. We're extremely vigilant regarding the safety or our residents and staff, and a conviction of some crimes will automatically disqualify an applicant from consideration for employment.

I want to be a nurse aide. Do I need to be certified?
To provide care in our nursing department you must have your State Tested Nursing Assistant certification. Working in our dietary, housekeeping, laundry or assisted living departments does not require certification

I have special scheduling needs due to day care. Can you accommodate them?
It would depend on your circumstances and those of the facility at which you apply. We would try very hard to work with you to arrange a schedule that suits your needs. In a great many cases we can work something out.

How do I become a volunteer?
We encourage and greatly appreciate volunteers. If you’re interested in sharing your time, please contact the building where you would like to volunteer and ask for the Activities Director. He or she can answer whatever questions you may have and let you know what opportunities are available.

I've tested positive for TB in the past. Will you require me to take the annual TB test?
When someone has a history of a positive Mantoux result, we will not require additional testing. We will require a chest x-ray, an annual confirmation that you are not experiencing any symptoms and a commitment that you will report any if they arise.

I plan on going back to school to work toward a degree. Do you have any programs that provide assistance with tuition?
We have a tuition payment program in place to provide assistance with paying for a degree that is pertinent to your job. Certain longevity, schedule and performance criteria must be met in order to qualify. Please see your department head for more information.

I want to work for you, but don't see any openings I'm interested in. What do you suggest I do?
Please feel free to submit your resume anyway. We keep good resumes on hand for times when positions become available.  That allows us to  fill openings before we even have to advertise sometimes. We'd love to keep yours on file
"just in case."
